They Call Me Mantooth (What’s Your Internet Handle?)

About three years ago I created an Ogre on the Everquest 2 Nagafen server called ‘Mantooth’ (Dorothy Mantooth is a saint) and ever since then I’ve stuck with the name across every single MMORPG I’ve played. Occasionally it doesn’t suit my character (not a very Tolkieny name in LotRO for instance) but seeing as I usually pick the biggest, meanest and ugliest (I enjoy the irony of the contract to my real life handsomeness) race along with a melee class it’s normally pretty appropriate.
Having a common character name is also an easy way for my peers to recognise me on any new MMORPGs I try. Plus, I guess I’ve become quite attached to the handle. I associate the name ‘Mantooth’ with myself. Weird, I know, but considering I have a self confessed Ogre fetish what exactly did you expect?

I don’t really have anything common I use everywhere….
I have a few that I share with a couple games.. Mewwy and Hilana. That’s about it.
I also use Naysayer and Blane quite often. I liked the Tabula Rasa idea of having a common surname amongst your characters – so all of my alts could be Blah Mantooth
Amatheon is my first name I will use. After that, I play around a bit.
Sometimes if I play a female, I always use one my wife mistakenly used in Guild Wars, and stuck with me..

(she added the extra I, and when we pronounced it, the name became “Ish-tah-ree” like the Tauri of Stargate)

I do the same thing, I have 4 stock names I use for different character types, I log on to free games sometimes just to make sure Koreans cant have it. And I made one on about every WOW server I could just out of spite lol. One name I use for my warrior types.. which i rarely do, I got from magic the Gathering.. shorthand name for a spell I liked alot, and my most used name is for my PVP evil spellcaster assassin types That I have used since Daggerfall.
