Free RIFT For Five Friends This Weekend
I'll hand it to Trion, they certainly know how to appeal to their audience
So Trion emailed me this afternoon to promote their special “Allies of the Ascended” event this weekend which is essentially an opportunity for friends of account holders to play for free for 72 hours. And seeing as you’re all my friends (or disconnected cyber-fans with creepy voyeuristic tendencies, you choose) I’ve decided to share the key with you lovely people.
The key’s below and, to redeem it, all you need to do is go to www.RIFTgame.com/en/ally and follow the instructions. The event runs from 10am PDT on Friday April 1st to 10am PDT on Monday 4th April. I’m also not entirely sure whether or not it’s only for the EU version of the game. Guess there’s only one way to find out.

Unfortunately as the key is limited to five uses it’s only going to be available on a first come, first served basis. I have absolutely no idea how popular it will be or how quickly it will go but, if you do claim it, feel free to leave a comment or drop me an email/tweet to let me know and I’ll update the post when they’re all used up.
If you do claim the code, look up Kilgour on the Argent server (EU), Guardian side. I’ll come show off my large sword and bare nipples.

I saw someone today pondering if the free trial is too soon, seeing as it’s only been a month after release. But I think it’s just Trion listening to the players, because I know many people in the community have been asking for one. Also of note is the important distinction that it’s only for current players to give to friends and family. Great idea and cool move from Trion
Totally. I think it’s a very smart move for them to get out and actively start recruiting more people while momentum is still on their side.

I do wonder whether it’s a bit short time interval though, one weekend? That’s super stingy given how long it could take to download and patch the game if you have a slow connection!
Probably just a strategy to water people’s mouths, because the trial will be over at a point where you’re probably able to experience your first taste of invasion content, or had enough time to find a calling and soul combo to enjoy. Trion aren’t dumb at all.
Might be that when Phase 2 of the River of Souls event begins we might see more trial codes.
